Frequently Asked Questions
Do I have to have a certain level of fitness before becoming an Active Soul?
Not at all! All fitness levels are catered for with lower and higher intensity options for each exercises and training sessions are structured so that you will be able to work at your own pace and level of fitness throughout.
How soon after having a baby can I return to exercise?
It is recommended that you wait until you have had your 6 week check up with a women’s health physio before joining our classes. This gives you time to adjust to new routines with your baby and we can ensure there are no complications that may effect your ability to exercise.
Our ‘Ease into Exercise’ 4 week course would be your first port of call returning to exercise post pregnancy and a prerequisite for our other classes.
What should I wear?
Wear what you are comfortable to train in. Loose clothing with a good pair of trainers is recommended as well as a hat / jacket depending on the weather. Sunscreen and insect repellent is kept handy if you ever need to use some – please don’t hesitate to ask. Dress for the weather and come prepared!
What do I need to bring?
For you: A bottle of water and an old towel.
All equipment is supplied in both Outdoor Fit and Box Fit training sessions – weights, resistance bands, boxing gear, suspension straps, mats.. all of which is maintained, cleaned and disinfected regularly.
What happens if it rains?
Due to the nature of outdoor training, there will be occasions where the wind, rain, hot and cold temperatures will affect your training session. We aim to make your sessions as enjoyable as possible regardless of the conditions and try to find the the best locations to deal with the elements. Sessions go ahead unless the weather is absolutely extreme – so you are encouraged to come to training regardless – you could be pleasantly surprised!
In all of our locations we have an indoor option available – just in case. On the rare occasion that we may have to cancel, you will be notified via text just prior to your usual session start time.
What are the group sizes? And are there limits?
Because Active Soul specialises in Boutique Outdoor Fitness, group sizes are deliberately kept small with a maximum of 14 and minimum of 6 in each session. This enables sessions to be personalised to the individual’s needs and ensures correct technique in all exercises is achieved. Small groups enable individual goals to be set and monitored over the course of the term and each person is supported and encouraged to achieve them to the best of their ability. If you are booked into a particular time slot and numbers drop below six we will aim to offer you a spot in an alternative session or you may be able to invite friends along to make up numbers and introduce them to a healthy lifestyle.
What if I’m having a low energy day & lack motivation?
It is better to attend and have a low intensity workout than not come at all! Sometimes, it’s the thought of exercising more than actually doing it that’s the hardest part… and once you get out there and give it a go, you feel better for it! We run to a traffic light system at Active Soul that honours how you are feeling at the time and will always tailor make the session to your needs and energy levels on the day.
How do I pay for Active Soul training sessions?
To offer a progressive training program it is encouraged that you sign up for the 10 week term.
Not only this, but it is the best way to get into regular routines, guarantee your space in a session and help you commit to regular exercise sessions.
Payments can be made into the following Active Soul account:
38-9010-0231196-00, by direct debit via our website, by credit card upon receiving your termly invoice or by cash.
Can I sign up half way through the term?
If we have spots available once a term has already started, you are welcome to come and trial a class and then sign up for the remainder of the term. However spaces are limited in our classes and once we are booked we are booked.
What if I sign up for a term & miss a session (or more due to illness)?
Thats okay! We understand that sometimes life just gets in the way BUT are flexible with this and encourage you to catch up missed sessions anywhere within the term.
In the case of a serious injury / illness that prevents you training for more than 2 weeks, please contact us to discuss further options. A doctors certificate will be required to receive a refund (minus the sessions you have already attended), or alternatively, the remainder of your sessions can be transferred to the following term.
NB. For Personal Training sessions, 24 hours notice is required for a cancelled session. Within this time frame; full payment will be taken unless your space can be filled or rescheduled within the week.
What If I decide I don’t want to continue training, despite signing up for the term?
No refunds, credits, or transfers are given for partially attended sessions or terms, however special circumstances such illness or injury will be taken into consideration on a case-by-case basis.
